Description
A quick and crispy version of the classic French sandwich made in an air fryer.
Ingredients
- 4 slices bread
- 4 slices ham
- 4 slices cheese (Gruyère or Swiss)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 cup milk
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Make béchamel sauce by melting butter, whisking in flour, then slowly adding milk until thickened. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Layer ham and cheese between bread slices.
- Spread béchamel on top of sandwiches.
- Air fry at 375°F for 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.
Notes
- Use thick-cut bread for best results
- Swap ham for turkey if preferred
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy
