Description
Enjoy a festive twist on classic Greek gyros with this easy air fryer chicken gyros recipe, served with homemade tzatziki. Perfect for a quick Christmas dinner or holiday gathering.
Ingredients
- 500g boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 4 pita breads
- 1/2 cucumber, grated
- 150g Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix chicken with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
- Preheat air fryer to 180°C (350°F).
- Place chicken in air fryer basket and cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway.
- While chicken cooks, make tzatziki by combining grated cucumber, yogurt, dill, garlic, lemon juice, and salt.
- Warm pita breads in the air fryer for 1 minute.
- Slice chicken and serve in pita breads with tzatziki, tomatoes, and onions.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the chicken marinade.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Drain excess liquid from grated cucumber to prevent watery tzatziki.
