Description
Crispy, bite-sized apple pie churros made in the air fryer for a healthier twist on a classic dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup apple pie filling (finely chopped)
- 1/2 cup cinnamon sugar (for coating)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms.
- Let cool slightly, then mix in egg, vanilla extract, and chopped apple pie filling.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip.
- Pipe 3-inch churro strips onto parchment paper.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly spray churros with cooking spray and air fry for 6-8 minutes until golden brown.
- Roll warm churros in cinnamon sugar before serving.

- Use a sturdy piping bag to avoid bursts.
- For extra crispiness, spray churros lightly with oil before air frying.
