Description
Crispy, sweet churros with caramel apple flavor, made easily in your air fryer.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup finely chopped apples
- 2 tbsp caramel sauce
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat water, butter, sugar, and salt until boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms.
- Let cool slightly, then mix in egg, vanilla, chopped apples, and caramel sauce.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip.
- Pipe 4-inch strips onto parchment paper.
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Place churros in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar in a bowl.
- Roll warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Serve immediately with extra caramel sauce.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith for best texture.
- Let dough cool slightly before adding the egg to avoid scrambling.
- Work quickly when piping to maintain dough consistency.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
